Mild........but also Wild...........lol

this 6x6 is RS6X6HM's Big Brother - how big?

MILD because.......i take off the 3rd axle and its essentially

a Nikko Hercules - 4wd, dual 540s -(pics are of a RS "rock runner/car crusher" - a 2wd single 540 version of "nikko hercules" - truck comes with both bodies in box - and both "rock runner"&"car crusher" are printed on box, manual, controller, etc, LOL. Nikko Hercules has a the Toyota Hilux body ( or maybe now its a Ford f150 ? ) but no Pontiac Firebird.

WILD because ...... 6WD ! 3 locked diffs, three 540s IN PARALLEL controlled by a Tekin Rebel esc. rear axles are solid, front is independent.

those "links" that connect the rear axles to each other are sections of plastic i cut from the rollcages on the bodies of a few scrap RC. the mounting points are where the stock bumpers/wheelie bars were mounted. there was a 4th link, which snapped off, but that didnt have a negative effect , because, while the links are mounted "parallel", the joints arent "ball/swivel", so there is no "left/right sway" - they only allow the axles to pivot "up/down".

convention "4 link" setups are in the works for both rear axles, so the little bit of artic allowed by "slop" and the flexibility in the plastic links will be much improved.

The maiden voyage on the rocks was "semi-successful", lol, not because of any inheret flaw in design, but because the diff in the middle axle didnt lock ! so it was "limited -slip" - and slip it did ! lol - and the tires were slippin too! i forgot to glue em. then theres the wire....the length of wire running from motor to esc should be the same for all 3 motors, but the esc is closest to the middle motor, so i used as short a length as possible....bad idea...... when the middle axle had the most traction i had a problem with it stalling while the oher 2 axles spun slowly - i suspect that problem can be reduced (if not banished completely) by using identical lengths of wire.

so ive got a few changes to make before my next trip to the rocks, but the first run wasnt all bad :-) bigbrother1.mpg 320x240, with sound, 17 sec long.
