back in the days of my "ebay addiction" (im still an addict, but in recovery, lol) i ended up with 2 poorly designed (cough, cough, CRAPPY!) 4wd buggies - a "monogram tornado" , and a "mrc road winner" - which is virtual clone of the monogram tornado - actually, alot is different except the drivetrain - the drivetrain is virtually identical. anyway..........when i got sick of looking at them, i decided to MUTATE! yippy ! lol. i basicly made a short wheelbase 4wd using bits from both buggies. just chopped the driveshaft (from front to rear, used for 4wd)cobbled together a chassis from their combined bits - but i dont remember who's chassis bits were used where, lol.

yes ! that lil guy was a pretty potent package - that 540 is 20t - had 9cells strapped on top of that "rollcage" (made from bumpers and nerfbars that were layin around) that - running thru that board from one of my nikko buggies. the shocks (no springs - just there to keep the arms up/set ride height) are from some nichimo buggies - trick looking shocks thou - very small, with metal bodies. anyway, i never even got a full run out of this critter before..........

stupid transmitter......... thing was glitching with the first board i had in it, so i go swap in a second board - still glitching, glitched itself right into a wall, lol. matter of fact, u can see, in the pic of the whole car, that it looks like the 2 tires on the right side of the car are much closer together than the 2 tires on the left - snapping off most of the frontend mounting will do that, lol. anyway, turned out not to be a bad board, but a bad transmitter.....

that kinda damage, the area is to small to repair it, and using plastic again would just encourage repeat damage, so i had to go to metal - those kyosho usa1 shock towers were layin around (yeah! lol, thats what that aluminum chassis in the top 2 pics is made of) so i took the hacksaw to em. and since i had it apart to rebuild, might as well add in that second tranny - another motor never hurt! hehehe

ok, so thats how "duo" began life..........duo rose from the ashes of "mono" lol. duo's motors are 27t mods (yes, MOD - took some arms from some kyosho 24deg roar motors, stuck em in some mod cans - gotta love ball bearings and i prefer 0 degree timing). id like to use some hotter mods, but these trannys arent geared very low, and gearing isnt adjustable, so i gotta stick with high turn motors. on 9 to 12 cells it wont be so bad, hehehe

where to put eveything.......batteries, steering setup, elecronics..... well, this is an old project ive had collecting dust mainly because i havent come up with front susp/steering setup that im happy with. the pix below

are of a setup i was working on back in february (yeah, lol, been collecting dust since then )- ill probably keep the rearend as it is, but the front has got go - its too wide (cuz i had to mount wheels reversed to clear my knuckle arm "extenders" lol) and those ball joints used to connect the knuckle to the arms pop loose too easily. the servo will get a different mount (one thats connected to the large flat "chassis undertray" that will hold the electronics and batteries) but will be mounted in the same way - i got the idea from the clod setup, lol. anyway, ive finally decided to do what i should have done last year sometime - raid another project for parts ! lol, i didnt want to, but ive got to !
