This is my lowrider hybrid.
The carbon fiber chassis and steering hardware are from an RC12L, the rearend and tires/wheels are from a Tyco Lamborghini Countach (which was formerly on "lamboninja" but more on that later).The electronic curcuit board is from a Nikko Black Thunder . It has proportional steering and throttle. considering its dual 2xx motors, which arent impressive in terms of power, the car is quite fast - exellent power/weight ratio - and thats what it's all about ! lol. Runtime is the main reason i built this thing - 540 powered RCs are too power hungry. lol, i just know there are some 540 powered STOCK "toy" RCs from nikko/radio shack waiting to get eaten for lunch, lmao - being light has its advantages:-)
I get 15min of "full throttle" running on 600mah cells - thats right, puny 600s - so even a cheap 1800 sport pack will give me 45min of runtime! lol, i dont dare think about the hour+ id get from a set of 3000s, lmao.

i know, lol, its dirty !

The body is also from the Nikko "black thunder" - im not sure if its modeled after a specific truck, or just has generic styling. As u can see, its very dirty, and covered in ugly decals. I was going to clean it, remove all the decals, and alter the wheel arches so it would sit lower...but........a little later, lol. Its not going to be mounted on the chassis, its just to look pretty when the car is on display.

The bad news....on my "maiden voyage" (first run) i chunked some gear teeth ! :-( In my 13 years of "rc fanaticism" (lol, is that a word?) this is only my 2nd time chunking gears - ive blown many motors, fried many electronics, but only once before have i broken gears. What adds insult to injury is that i was only running 2 extra cells - 10 vs 8. I didnt slam it between fwd/reverse - im in the habit of waiting a few seconds inbetween - but i think it happened cuz i like to accelerate "full throttle" from a standstill - too much torque perhaps? who knows..."low" gear is ok, but "low" is not an option ! lol, i need speed - i already have runtime. im gonna run it with the chunked diff (it runs fine - just sounds horrible) until it loses so many teeth it cant go on, lol, then im gonna have to find a new rearend - so......this page is a shrine to my beloved "low-low" (lmao) which is terminally ill - could go any day now.....but the end will be fun ! :-)
